Tourism Minister Rwodzi Encourages Warriors Ahead of AFCON Preparations

Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister, Hon. Barbara Rwodzi, continued her mission of promoting Zimbabwe’s visibility on the global stage by visiting the Zimbabwe Senior Men’s Football Team, the Warriors, during her working visit to Saudi Arabia.

She was accompanied by her delegation and Zimbabwe’s Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mr. Tendai Manyuvire. The Warriors are in the Middle East for an international friendly against Algeria as part of their final preparations for the upcoming 2024 AFCON tournament in Morocco.

Minister Rwodzi took time to engage with the players, applauding their unity, discipline, and professionalism. She highlighted that every Warrior is more than just a footballer each one represents Destination Zimbabwe to the world.

She noted that their behaviour, commitment, and team spirit reflect the true essence of Zimbabwe’s culture, heritage, and renowned hospitality.

The minister reminded the team that the national jersey is a symbol of the country’s pride and identity. She encouraged the players to continue uplifting the Zimbabwean flag through excellence, both on and off the pitch, as their conduct inspires global interest in the nation’s tourism, beauty, and vibrant cultural offerings.

As Zimbabwe celebrates its qualification for AFCON, Minister Rwodzi emphasised that the Warriors’ success strengthens the country’s international image. She reiterated that sport and tourism are powerful partners, with football opening doors for Zimbabwe to showcase its attractions to a global audience.

The Minister’s visit not only motivated the team but also reinforced the Second Republic’s commitment to promoting Zimbabwe through sports diplomacy and tourism branding.
