Correctional Queens FC Finish Second In ZWPSL, Narrowly Miss Out On Title
Correctional Queens FC have wrapped up their Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League (ZWPSL) season in second place, finishing just one point behind champions Herentals Queens FC. The team amassed 70 points in a campaign that underlined their competitiveness and growth.
In their final match of the season, Correctional Queens defeated Black Mambas Queens FC 4-1, recovering from an early setback after conceding a penalty. Blessing Dube levelled the score with a commanding header before Melody Gova took charge in the second half, netting a hat-trick to seal the result.
The club’s strong league performance has also translated into national recognition. Three of their players, Thandekile Mandaba, Blessing Dube, and Agnes Tumbare, have been called up to the senior national team for the upcoming Malawi Four Nations Tournament. In addition, head coach Tsitsi Shiri has been named Assistant Coach of the national side, further highlighting the club’s influence on the women’s football landscape in Zimbabwe.
