Silobela Farmers Reap Benefits of Pfumbudza/Intwasa Programme
In a significant boost to agricultural development in Silobela, a total of 500 farmers from across the district have received a comprehensive package of agricultural inputs, aimed at enhancing household food self-sufficiency. The inputs, which include a 50kg bag of Compound D fertiliser, a 50kg bag of AN, 5kg bags of maize and sorghum seed, and 500ml of herbicide, were distributed free of charge under the Pfumvudza/Intwasa Programme.
The distribution ceremony, held at a local venue, was graced by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Midlands, Hon. Owen Ncube, who emphasised the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and promoting agricultural development in the district. “We are committed to ensuring that our farmers have access to the resources they need to thrive, and we will not tolerate any corruption that undermines this effort,” he said, urging farmers to report any cases of corruption to the police.
Hon. Ncube also highlighted the importance of agriculture in driving economic growth and reducing poverty in Zimbabwe. “Agriculture is a key sector in our economy, and we are committed to supporting our farmers to increase production and productivity,” he said. “The Pfumvudza/Intwasa Programme is a key component of our strategy to achieve food self-sufficiency, and we expect it to have a significant impact on the lives of our people.”
The Pfumvudza/Intwasa Programme is a government initiative aimed at promoting agricultural productivity and food security in Zimbabwe. The programme provides farmers with inputs and training to improve their yields and incomes, with the ultimate goal of achieving household food self-sufficiency. Since its launch, the programme has made significant strides in improving agricultural productivity and food security in the country.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony, local farmers expressed their gratitude for the inputs, saying they would go a long way in improving their harvests. “We are thankful for the government’s support,” said Mrs. Mary Chikwanda, a local farmer. “These inputs will help us increase our yields and feed our families. We are committed to working hard and making the most of this opportunity.”
The distribution of inputs is part of the government’s efforts to promote agricultural development and food security in Zimbabwe. The Pfumvudza/Intwasa Programme is expected to benefit thousands of farmers across the country, and is seen as a key component of the government’s strategy to achieve food self-sufficiency.
The programme has also created employment opportunities for many people in the district, from farm workers to input suppliers. “The Pfumvudza/Intwasa Programme has brought a lot of hope to our community,” said Mr. John Machingauta, a local resident. “It has created jobs and stimulated economic activity in the area. We are grateful for the government’s initiative.”
The government’s commitment to supporting agriculture is expected to have a positive impact on the country’s economy, with increased production and productivity expected to lead to improved food security and increased exports.
