Zimbabwean hip-hop artist Maskiri has been arrested in Chitungwiza following a police sting operation after he allegedly failed to deliver imported Boer Kalahari Red goats worth US$1,500 to a United States–based buyer.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the complainant, Tonderai Chisoro, reportedly transferred the money through Mukuru in three separate transactions after engaging the rapper who recently ventured into goat farming on social media.

Maskiri, real name Alishias Musimbe, is said to frequently advertise what he describes as “imported Boer Kalahari Red breeds” on his social media platforms.

Police said Chisoro made the purchase with the understanding that the goats would be delivered to his family in Zimbabwe.

However, after payment was completed, Maskiri allegedly became evasive and failed to hand over the livestock, prompting the buyer to lodge a complaint.

ZRP officers launched a sting operation which led to the musician’s arrest in Chitungwiza. Police confirmed that the matter is now under investigation, with charges relating to fraud and failure to deliver paid goats.
