Big Boost for Mbare as Blessing Charakupa Rolls Out Major Community Donations
Harare businessman Blessing Charakupa through the JB Family Foundation supported by GuiMak Electronics , has rolled out a comprehensive community support programme in Mbare aimed at empowering youths, assisting the elderly, and strengthening local skills development.
According to an official letter from the JB Family Foundation dated the organisation is donating over 2,000 Christmas hampers to elderly families in the Mbare community as part of its annual Corporate Social Responsibility efforts.
The letter confirms that the hampers are intended to support vulnerable households during the festive season.
In addition, the Foundation will install free Wi-Fi at four schools to enhance digital access for learners:
1. Harare High School
2.George Stark High School
3.St Peter’s High School
4. Mbare High School
The Foundation stated that these installations aim to “assist the youths to be up to speed with the current cyber technology,” enabling students to access online educational tools and digital learning platforms.
Alongside these initiatives, Charakupa has also donated 100 welding machines to young welders in Mbare, a move he says is designed to expand income-earning opportunities and stimulate small-scale industrial activity within the community.
Charakupa has said his philanthropic work is inspired by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s empowerment-focused approach and by the influential leadership of Dr. Kudakwashe Tagwirei, whom he credits for encouraging investment in community development and youth empowerment.
Local residents, school administrators, and community leaders have welcomed the multi-layered support programme, describing it as a timely boost for education, skills development, and social welfare in one of Harare’s oldest suburbs.
