VINÍCIUS JÚNIOR STALLS REAL MADRID RENEWAL AMID GROWING RIFT WITH XABI ALONSO

Vinícius Júnior has reportedly told Real Madrid he will not sign a contract extension until his strained relationship with head coach Xabi Alonso is addressed, according to reporting linked to The Athletic and other credible outlets.

The Brazilian star is said to have delivered the warning directly to club president Florentino Pérez during a private meeting late last month.

The tension follows Madrid’s 2–1 El Clásico victory on October 26, where Vinícius reacted angrily after being substituted in the 72nd minute. He stormed off complaining he was “always the one taken off,” even hinting it might be “better to leave.” Though he later apologised to Pérez and club executives, he notably did not apologise to Alonso, a detail viewed internally as proof of their strained dynamic.

Sources also suggest the discomfort extends beyond Vinícius. Several senior players and technical staff members are reportedly unhappy with Alonso’s tougher regime, which includes increased gym workloads, tighter discipline and more rigid tactical demands. This shift has created clear friction in parts of the dressing room.
