Govt Allocates Major Funding to Key Sectors in 2026 Budget

The Government of Zimbabwe has allocated significant funds to boost economic growth in the industry, mining, tourism and agriculture sectors in the 2026 National Budget.

Speaking during the presentation of the 2026 national budget, Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube said the budget prioritises key productive sectors as Government moves to accelerate economic growth and create more jobs.

“The the manufacturing sector remains vital to Zimbabwe’s structural transformation. To support industrial recovery and improve competitiveness, Government has allocated ZiG459.8 million to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The funds will be used for tooling, working capital support and policy enhancement,” He said.

In the mining sector, Government has set aside ZiG789 million for the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development. According to the Minister, the allocation will improve the Ministry’s capacity to drive beneficiation and promote sustainable mining operations in 2026.

Tourism, one of the largest contributors to foreign currency earnings, received ZiG339.4 million.

“The funding will strengthen operations within the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry and further position Zimbabwe as a destination of choice,” Minister added.

Agriculture received the highest allocation among the productive sectors, with ZiG26.8 billion earmarked for the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development.

“This will support national goals on food security, climate resilience and environmental sustainability,” he stated.

Prof Ncube also highlighted Government’s focus on job creation and youth empowerment.

“A total of ZiG1.7 billion has been allocated to the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training for youth programmes and the capitalisation of EmpowerBank,” said Minister Ncube.

He said the allocations underscore Government’s commitment to strengthening critical sectors that underpin inclusive and sustainable economic development.
