Scottland FC President Tours New Facilities With Incoming Coach Norman Mapeza
Scottland FC president Scott Sakupwanya yesterday led newly appointed head coach Norman Mapeza on a tour of the club’s residential villas, which are currently under construction as part of the team’s ambitious infrastructure expansion project.
The visit, which took place at the club’s growing base on the outskirts of Harare, marked Mapeza’s first official engagement since his unveiling. Wearing his trademark red cap, the veteran coach inspected the ongoing works while receiving a detailed briefing on the club’s long-term plans.
Sakupwanya revealed that the accommodation facilities are only one component of a much larger vision aimed at transforming Scottland FC into one of the most professionally run clubs in the region. He confirmed that the club is set to construct a USD30 million stadium at the same site, a development he described as a “historic investment” in Zimbabwean football.
“Our goal is to build a world class football institution with its own stadium, training centre, and player residences,” Sakupwanya said. “We want Scottland FC to become a model of excellence and self-sufficiency.”
Construction of the villas is already underway, with contractors on site. Once complete, the housing project is expected to provide modern accommodation for players and technical staff, reducing logistical pressures and improving team cohesion.
The proposed stadium, still in the planning stages, is expected to include modern stands, VIP suites, training grounds, and administrative offices. If completed, the project would represent one of the largest private football investments made in Zimbabwe in recent years.
Mapeza, who takes over the reins ahead of the upcoming season, expressed appreciation for the club’s infrastructural commitment, noting that such developments create a conducive environment for high performance.
The tour signals a new chapter for Scottland FC, with the club positioning itself for long term growth both on and off the pitch.
