National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi has issued a clarion call to parents across the country to closely supervise children following two unrelated drowning incidents in Harare and Bulawayo that left two infants dead.
He said the infants were aged 2 and 3 years old.
The police report two tragic drowning incidents recorded in Bulawayo and Harare on 28 November 2025.
“In the first incident, a female infant (3) drowned after falling into a toilet pit filled with water, approximately 2.5 metres deep. The victim was playing at a house in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
He said in the second case, a male infant (2) died after falling into a well about six metres deep at a house along Gurudzi Street, New Mabvuku, Harare.
“The ZRP implores the public to ensure that open water sources, pits, and other hazards are secured to prevent similar tragedies.”
