National Sports Stadium Expected to Reopen Ahead of 2026 PSL Season
Renovations at the National Sports Stadium are almost complete, and officials say the giant facility should be ready to welcome fans again before the start of the 2026 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season.
Sports Minister Anselem Sanyatwe confirmed that construction teams are working tirelessly to ensure the stadium meets the deadline. Recent government updates show strong progress across key areas:
Electrical installations are 90% complete
Water systems are 90% complete
Turnstile upgrades are at 65%
Ablution facilities stand at 58%
The drainage system for both the main pitch and B-Arena has been successfully upgraded, and officials say grass planting for the B-Arena will begin shortly.
Once reopened, the National Sports Stadium is expected to help ease the country’s severe shortage of CAF-certified venues and improve Zimbabwe’s chances of hosting both local league matches and international fixtures.
