Dynamos FC and four members of their technical team have been summoned to appear before the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Disciplinary Committee following dramatic scenes during their Chibuku Super Cup clash against Triangle United on 29 November at Gibbo Stadium.

Head coach Kelvin Kaindu, assistant coach Thomas Ruzive, team manager Takesure Chinyama, and goalkeepers’ coach Thulani Muzambwa face charges of disorderly conduct, failure to comply with official instructions, and actions likely to bring the league into disrepute, according to PSL regulations.

The disciplinary hearing is set for Thursday, 11 December 2025 at 17:30, at the PSL offices in Harare.

The charges stem from an unusual and theatrical protest by Dynamos, who refused to kick off the match after alleging that the match balls provided by Triangle United had been “cooked” at a sangoma’s house in Chiredzi the night before the match.

The standoff delayed the start of the match as Dynamos demanded alternative balls, insisting the ones presented were “not natural.”

Match officials reportedly instructed the team to proceed, but the protests continued, triggering the PSL to charge the club and its officials for disturbing the normal flow of the game.

While disputes over match equipment are not new in Zimbabwean football, the spiritual dimension of this complaint has added drama and intrigue. Fans on social media quickly coined hashtags and jokes about mabhora akabikwa, while others questioned whether such beliefs should influence professional football proceedings.

The PSL, however, maintains that the issue is about professional conduct, not superstition.

The committee will determine whether Dynamos and their officials violated league standards when they challenged the balls’ legitimacy and disrupted the scheduled kick-off.

The football fraternity now waits to see whether the “cooked ball” saga will end with fines, suspensions or simply become another chapter in Zimbabwe’s colourful football folklore.
