The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) has unveiled major reductions in television and radio licence fees, a move expected to ease costs for both households and businesses while improving access to national broadcasting services.

The new tariffs, set out in Statutory Instrument (SI) 203A of 2025, will come into effect on January 15.

According to the updated schedule, business vehicle radio licences have been slashed from US$200 to US$90 per year, with private vehicle licences dropping from US$92 to US$84 annually.

Ordinary households will also see significant relief. The annual combined TV and radio licence has been lowered from US$100 to US$24. In urban areas, the radio-only licence will now cost US$10 instead of US$40, while rural listeners will pay US$5, down from US$20.

These sweeping adjustments mark one of the biggest revisions to broadcasting licence fees in recent years and are part of broader efforts to make public broadcasting more affordable and accessible nationwide.
