Ten Lose Lives in Tragic Harare–Nyamapanda Road Crash
Ten people have lost their lives following a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on the Harare–Nyamapanda Road in the afternoon, sending shockwaves through the surrounding communities.
The collision happened at the 185-kilometre peg near the Suswe area when a Honda Fit travelling from Mutoko to Kotwa was involved in a head-on crash with a haulage truck that was en route to Harare. Police confirmed that the Honda Fit was carrying ten occupants at the time of the accident.
All ten passengers in the Honda Fit died as a result of the impact. The haulage truck reportedly had four occupants, none of whom were killed in the crash.
In a statement, police said preliminary investigations indicate that the Honda Fit allegedly encroached into the lane of oncoming traffic, resulting in the collision. Emergency services attended the scene, while traffic was temporarily disrupted as authorities worked to clear the wreckage.
Police have since launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident and indicated that more details will be released in due course. The incident adds to growing concerns over road safety on the busy Harare–Nyamapanda highway.
