Deputy Minister Kabikira Assesses Infrastructure Works at National Heroes Acre

The Deputy Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Hon. B. Kabikira, today toured the National Heroes Acre to assess progress on ongoing grave construction works at the national shrine.

Tensor Systems is working on the western wing, while Hualong Contractors are focusing on the eastern side of the national monument.

The visit demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that construction progresses as required at the national shrine to meet the set timelines.

Tensor Systems reported significant progress, with 17 graves fully prepared, which constitutes 57% of the work completed. The contractor indicated that they are awaiting the delivery of granite headers and capstones from Swaszy Granites, a local supplier.

Hualong Contractors have fully constructed eight graves to date, amounting to 28% of the overall work completed.

Hon. Kabikira expressed satisfaction with the quality of workmanship observed on both sites and emphasised the importance of maintaining momentum while upholding the sanctity and symbolic significance of the National Heroes Acre.

He urged the contractors to ensure the timely delivery of outstanding components and continued adherence to safety, quality, and heritage preservation standards.

The ministry remains seized with the coordination and monitoring of all works at the National Heroes Acre, reaffirming the government’s unwavering commitment to honouring national heroes through well-maintained and dignified resting places that reflect Zimbabwe’s values, history, and sovereignty.
