The State has this afternoon withdrawn cyberbullying charges against UK-based businesswoman Olinda Chapel before she could enter a plea.

Chapel had been appearing in court after being accused of cyberbullying Dyonne Tafirenyika, the ex-wife of her lover, Desmond “Stunner” Chideme, during a Facebook Live broadcast.

Prosecutors informed the court that they were no longer pursuing the matter, leading to the charges being withdrawn before plea. No detailed reasons were given in open court for the State’s decision.

The case had attracted significant public attention due to the high-profile nature of the individuals involved and the use of social media in the alleged offence.

With the withdrawal of charges, Chapel is no longer facing prosecution in the matter.
