Mashonaland East Provincial Chairman and Murehwa North Member of Parliament, Hon. Daniel Garwe, last week conducted a whirlwind tour of party districts in his constituency, distributing mealie meal to at least 3 000 party members in the first phase of a programme set to reach 15 000 beneficiaries.
Hon. Garwe visited party districts where he emphasised unity of purpose, national productivity and President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s message that the country has moved beyond political tensions and is now focused on the 2026 farming season.
“The country is currently not in election mode. We must remain a united force against those trying to hinder the success of Vision 2030,” he told supporters during the tour.
Each of the constituency’s 10 party districts will receive 1 500 bags of mealie meal.
He said the mealie meal distribution was a New Year gift from President Mnangagwa, meant to bolster food security and reinforce household resilience.
“This mealie meal we are distributing is a New Year gift from President Mnangagwa to the people of this constituency as a sign of his continued love and support,” he said.
Hon. Garwe said the gesture was part of broader national efforts to strengthen agriculture and ensure self-sufficiency as the cropping season intensifies.
“Our primary focus right now must be on the land. We need to focus on agriculture to ensure our nation thrives,” he said.
He also announced that top-dressing fertilisers under the Presidential Inputs Scheme will be delivered to party members across Murehwa North in the coming week, saying the government was committed to supporting every farmer.
“I want to assure every farmer in Murehwa North that the government hears you. Top-dressing fertilisers will be distributed starting next week across the entire constituency so that we maximise our yields,” he said.
Throughout the engagements, Hon. Garwe urged residents to remain vigilant, united and focused on development rather than political distractions.
“We must stand together and protect the progress we have made. Let us not be swayed by those who wish to see us fail, but stay committed to development and the leadership guiding Vision 2030,” said Hon. Garwe.
Local leaders praised the combined food relief and the promised fertiliser rollout, saying it would provide critical stability for households as the farming season gains momentum.
