Walter Magaya has been rearrested at the Harare Magistrates Court after developments in his rape trial caused the proceedings to stall.

During court proceedings, it was revealed that one of the complainants has withdrawn her rape complaint. The court also heard that the second complainant is now based in Ireland, raising challenges on how the case will proceed. As a result, the magistrate postponed the rape trial to tomorrow, when a ruling is expected on the way forward.

Magaya was taken back into custody following the postponement, sparking renewed public interest in the long-running cases.

In a separate matter, the fraud case involving Magaya was adjourned to 27 March. The postponement is to allow time for the matter to be indicted by the High Court.

Walter Magaya has been appearing in court since last year, facing multiple charges including fraud and rape. The cases have drawn national attention due to his high-profile status as a religious leader and the serious nature of the allegations.

The continued court appearances have kept Magaya in and out of the justice system for months, with supporters and critics closely following developments. Authorities say the legal process will continue to take its course as the courts determine the next steps in both cases.
