New Housing Minister Prof. Mavima Commits to Better Living Standards

Newly appointed Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities, Hon. Prof. Paul Mavima, has expressed gratitude to President Emmerson Mnangagwa following his reassignment, pledging to prioritise dignified housing and improved social services for Zimbabweans.

In a statement issued on X after the announcement of the latest Cabinet changes, Prof. Mavima thanked His Excellency President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa for the confidence and trust placed in him through the new portfolio, describing the appointment as both an honour and a responsibility.

Prof. Mavima reflected on his tenure at the Ministry of Skills Audit and Development, calling it a meaningful and rewarding chapter in his public service journey.

He praised the ministry’s leadership, management and staff for their professionalism, dedication and shared commitment to developing Zimbabwe’s human capital.

“The progress we achieved was driven by teamwork and a shared vision. The experience will remain invaluable to my new role,” said Hon. Mavima.

Turning to his new mandate, Prof. Mavima said access to decent housing and proper social amenities is central to restoring the dignity and well-being of citizens. He pledged to approach the task with humility, openness and a willingness to engage all stakeholders.

“I am ready to listen, to engage and to work tirelessly to deliver practical and lasting solutions,” he added.

The minister expressed optimism about the road ahead, reaffirming his commitment to serving the nation with determination as government accelerates efforts to improve living standards and expand access to quality housing across the country.

Prof. Mavima’s appointment comes as part of President Mnangagwa’s broader Cabinet reassignments aimed at strengthening service delivery and aligning ministries with national development priorities
