The Study Tourism Cluster delivered its latest dividend to Destination Zimbabwe yesterday as a contingent of students from Germany’s University of Potsdam touched down in the capital to begin a high-level EduTour focused on sustainable tourism development and heritage conservation.

The delegation was officially received by permanent officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) in Harare, marking the formal start of an intensive itinerary. The program will see the students traverse the country, moving from Harare to Chipinge, Masvingo, and Bulawayo, before culminating at the Victoria Falls.

Throughout the tour, the students are scheduled to conduct site visits to key tourism attractions, participate in curated city tours, and engage directly with local communities. The agenda includes a deep dive into Zimbabwe’s heritage, cultural diversity, and authentic gastronomy.

Officials hailed the visit as a strategic win for destination visibility, positioning Zimbabwe not merely as a leisure spot, but as a competitive hub for educational and experiential tourism on the global stage. The exchange is expected to foster meaningful knowledge transfer and reinforce the country’s appeal to the international academic market.
