Rain, Thunder Expected in Parts of Zimbabwe
The Meteorological Services Department (MSD) has warned of isolated thunderstorms and humid conditions in parts of Zimbabwe, particularly in northern regions.
At the same time, much of the southern areas are expected to remain hot and sunny.
In its latest weather update, the department reported scattered thunderstorms across several areas of the country.
The highest rainfall totals were recorded in Binga (35mm), followed by Rusape (28mm), Victoria Falls (22mm) and Rushinga (20mm).
“Out of the isolated thunderstorms that occurred along and to the north of the main watershed, the highest rainfall amounts were recorded in Binga, Rusape, Victoria Falls and Rushinga,” the department said.
The MSD indicated that moisture has shifted northwards, resulting in mostly cloudy and warm conditions accompanied by isolated afternoon thunderstorms in northern parts of the Midlands, Matabeleland North and Mashonaland West provinces.
Meanwhile, southern regions are expected to experience predominantly hot and sunny conditions, with limited chances of rainfall.
The department has urged members of the public to stay updated with official weather forecasts, particularly in areas prone to thunderstorms, which may be accompanied by lightning and strong winds.
