A total of 430 youths graduated today from a vocational skills training programme in Beitbridge, Matabeleland South, at a ceremony officiated on behalf of the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, Hon. Tino Machakaire.
“Today marks a major milestone in empowering our young people with practical skills for the future.”
The Minister was represented by the Acting Director of Vocational Skills Training, Mr N. Mudzamiri.
“We are proud to stand in for the Minister as we witness the transformation of these youths into skilled individuals ready to serve the nation.”
The graduates completed training in a wide range of areas, including practical vocational skills, life skills, entrepreneurship, and sexual and reproductive health education. The programme was supported by development partners Young Africa Zimbabwe and IOM Zimbabwe.
In a speech delivered on his behalf, Minister Machakaire said the graduates should not see themselves as mere beneficiaries of assistance, but as key contributors to Zimbabwe’s economic growth.
“You are not recipients of charity, but drivers of change in our economy,” he said.
He emphasised that the newly trained youths are now equipped to become responsible artisans, technicians, and entrepreneurs who can help drive the country’s industrialisation and development.
“The skills you now possess position you to build industries, create jobs, and uplift communities,” said Mr Mudzamiri.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to empower young people with skills that promote self-reliance, employment creation, and community development.
