In a move aimed at easing the cost of urban transport and supporting farmers, the government has gazetted Statutory Instrument 41 of 2026, reducing hourly parking fees to just US$0.50 and standardising vehicle clamping charges at US$20 per incident.

The new regulations, which take immediate effect, are part of broader efforts to harmonise urban charges and simplify the business environment. Previously, parking fees varied significantly across local authorities, with some motorists paying as much as US$1 per hour.

Beyond urban transport reforms, the statutory instrument also removes several levies affecting farmers, including the cattle levy, in a bid to lower regulatory costs in the agricultural sector. Officials say the move is expected to reduce operational expenses for farmers while encouraging compliance with national regulations.

The government emphasised that these changes are part of ongoing initiatives to streamline regulations, support economic activity, and make Zimbabwe a more business-friendly environment.
