YW4ED Endorses Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, Backs President Mnangagwa’s Continued Leadership
The Young Women for ED (YW4ED) national chapter has formally endorsed the Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 of 2026, describing it as a critical step toward sustaining national development under the Second Republic.
In a strong show of political solidarity, the organisation—representing thousands of young women across Zimbabwe said the proposed constitutional changes are necessary to preserve policy stability and safeguard the development momentum achieved in recent years. YW4ED leaders argued that continuity in leadership is key to the successful implementation of long-term national programmes.
The endorsement comes amid growing national debate around the Bill. However, YW4ED maintains that the amendment is a strategic measure aimed at ensuring that Emmerson Mnangagwa remains in office long enough to complete transformative projects initiated under his administration, particularly those aligned with Vision 2030.
Speaking during a press briefing, YW4ED provincial chairpersons praised President Mnangagwa’s hands-on leadership style, crediting it with tangible improvements at community level. The leaders highlighted progress in infrastructure development, youth and women economic empowerment programmes, and expanded opportunities for small-scale entrepreneurs.
They said young women across the country have directly benefited from policies implemented during the Second Republic, citing increased access to empowerment funding, skills development initiatives, and improved social services.
YW4ED further called on young women to actively support the proposed constitutional amendment, urging them to participate in national discourse and remain engaged in shaping Zimbabwe’s political and economic future.
“The Second Republic has opened doors for women, especially young women, to participate meaningfully in development,” said one provincial leader. “Continuity of leadership will ensure these gains are protected and expanded.”
The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising young women nationwide in support of policies it believes will strengthen stability, accelerate development, and secure a prosperous future for Zimbabwe.
