Hurungwe Digital Drive: 2,351 Students Graduate in Major ICT Milestone

A total of 2,351 students from across all five Hurungwe constituencies have graduated from a specialised Digital Skills Training Programme organised by the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services (Zimbabwe).

The ceremonies were held concurrently at three main venues: Chikangwe Hall in Hurungwe Central, Magunje, and Zvipani in Hurungwe West.

The Tatenda Mavetera, Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, presided over the event as Guest of Honour and described the initiative as a direct fulfilment of Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030.

Addressing the graduates, Minister Mavetera highlighted the Digital Skills Ambassadors Programme, which equips young people with modern competencies in high-growth areas.

She noted that the training focuses on crucial sectors such as artificial intelligence, social media management, and cybersecurity. The programme aims to ensure broad participation in the digital economy so that no one and no place is left behind.

In a move to strengthen infrastructure alongside skills development, the Minister also presented Starlink satellite internet kit units to several schools in the district to enhance internet connectivity in rural communities and help bridge the gap between urban and rural learning environments.

The event drew significant attendance from senior government and party officials, reflecting the high priority placed on youth empowerment.

Among those present were Marian Chombo, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland West; Richard Ziki, Member of Parliament for Hurungwe Central; Cde Nigel Murambiwa, ZANU PF Mashonaland West Provincial Secretary for Information and Publicity; Cde Chipo Ziki, Hurungwe Coordinator for Young Women for Economic Development; and Cde Tapiwa Masenda, ZANU PF Mashonaland West Provincial Youth Chairman.
