A total of 203 young men and women from Chivi and Mwenezi districts officially graduated from the Chivi–Mhandamahwe Vocational Training Centre.

The high-profile ceremony, which focused on the completion of the “Building Resilience and Enhancing Food Security” project, was presided over by the Honourable Minister T. Machakaire. Minister Machakaire hailed the graduates as the new architects of Zimbabwe’s prosperity.

The graduation marks a strategic intervention in the region, where a coalition of partners, including the United Nations Development Programme, the Embassy of Japan, and CARE, collaborated to provide rural youth with market-ready vocational skills.

By targeting districts that are often vulnerable to climate challenges, the programme has successfully equipped a new generation with the technical expertise necessary to directly combat youth unemployment while simultaneously strengthening the nation’s food production systems.

During his keynote address, Minister Machakaire emphasized that the resilience demonstrated by the students throughout their training serves as a strong foundation for the country’s future economic stability.

He noted that the graduates are no longer just seekers of opportunities but are now skilled practitioners capable of contributing positively to the Youth Agenda for Transformation.

The Minister urged the graduates to utilise their newly acquired qualifications to drive innovation within their local communities and act as catalysts for regional development.
