JOHN COWIE PRIMARY CROWNED MANICALAND HERITAGE QUIZ CHAMPIONS

John Cowie Primary School secured a narrow victory at the Manicaland Provincial Heritage Quiz finals held recently at Murambinda A Primary School in Buhera.
The talented all-girls team, consisting of Tapiwanashe Zvepasi, Janelle Nyabonda, Benevolence Dube, and Danielle Masibhera, finished one point ahead of the defending champions, Hartzell Central Primary School.
Organised by the National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe, the competition featured 14 schools representing various districts across the province.
Manicaland Chief Provincial Education Director Richard Gabaza commended the participants and noted that the quiz directly supports the goals of the national Heritage-Based Curriculum.
He emphasized that such events are crucial in helping young learners understand and appreciate their cultural identity and history. The high level of competition displayed by all teams reflected the dedication of both students and teachers towards mastering heritage studies.
The winning squad was prepared for the challenge by their coaches, Mrs Tariro Mahanyana and Mr Itai Nyambo, who expressed pride in the students’ intellectual prowess and confidence. By claiming the top spot, John Cowie Primary School has earned the honour of representing Manicaland at the upcoming national finals.
The final stage of the competition will be hosted at the Great Zimbabwe National Monument, where provincial winners from across the country will compete for the national title.
