Retired Major-General Herbert Chingono Passes Away
Retired Major-General Herbert Chingono has died. Family sources confirmed that the former senior military officer was discovered at his farmhouse in Mazowe yesterday.
According to family members, several high-ranking military officials quickly went to the scene, including Air Vice Marshal Biltim Chingono.
Major-General Chingono, who specialised in artillery, had a distinguished career in the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA). He is also remembered as the last ZNA officer to undergo training through the United States’ International Military Education and Training (IMET) programme, which he completed in 1999.
Over the course of his service, he held several senior positions in the army, including serving as the Inspector-General of the Zimbabwe National Army.
