The Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Hon Barbara Rwodzi, applauded President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s leadership after being named Best Performing Minister of the Year, describing his vision as a driving force behind her success.

In her acceptance message, Minister Rwodzi said she was “humbly honored,” attributing the recognition to strong leadership from the President, whose National Development Strategies (NDS1 and NDS2) have provided clear direction and empowered ministers to deliver results.

“The President’s approach has created an environment where government officials are encouraged to innovate, dream big, and effectively implement policies that contribute to national development,”said Minister Rwodzi.

The minister also expressed gratitude to the First Lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa, whom she credited for her guidance and consistent support of the tourism sector. Rwodzi said the recognition is shared with the First Lady, acknowledging her role as a patron of tourism in Zimbabwe.

Highlighting the importance of teamwork, Rwodzi praised her ministry officials, including her deputy minister, permanent secretary Dr Munyanyiwa, and the entire staff for their dedication. She also commended the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, led by CEO George Manyaya, for their contribution to the sector’s progress.

“This achievement can only be realised through teamwork, dedication and honest hard work, the award is worth celebrating, more work still lies ahead to grow the tourism industry,” Minister stated.

Rwodzi further extended appreciation to the people of Chirumhanzu constituency for entrusting her with the mandate to represent them in Parliament, noting that their support paved the way for her appointment as a cabinet minister.

Her recognition comes at a time when Zimbabwe is strengthening its tourism sector, positioning itself as a competitive destination through strategic planning and collaboration among stakeholders.
