An area manager at Farm & City Private Limited, Justine Ngoshi (39), appeared in court last Friday on allegations of theft after reportedly diverting company funds amounting to US$10 200 for betting.

Ngoshi appeared before Harare provincial magistrate Michael Mafukidze, who remanded him in custody while awaiting a full bail hearing.

Prosecutors allege that between July 31 last year and February 28 this year, Ngoshi collected US$10 200 that was intended for rent payments for the Belgravia branch of Farm & City.

The money was supposed to be paid to Sawyer and Mkushi Legal Practitioners. However, it is alleged that Ngoshi instead used the funds for personal purposes, including betting on the Aviator game.

Authorities say the full amount of US$10 200 was misappropriated, and no funds have been recovered so far.
