Chivayo Boosts Healthcare Development in Support of Vision 2030
Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo has stepped up efforts to support the country’s healthcare system through the donation of additional ambulances, as part of a broader push toward achieving national development goals under Vision 2030.
This latest contribution follows the successful delivery of 10 ambulances in November last year. Chivayo has now added another 10 state-of-the-art ambulances, fulfilling part of his pledge to provide a total of 20 more. The initiative is aimed at improving emergency medical services and ensuring that communities across Zimbabwe have better access to life-saving transport.
The donation aligns with the government’s vision, led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, to transform Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy by 2030. A key part of this vision is the development of a modern, efficient, and accessible healthcare system.
“My contribution is meant to support ongoing national efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery. Development requires unity, stability, and consistent support from both government and the private sector,” Chivayo said.
To ensure the ambulances make a real impact, all 20 units will be distributed across Zimbabwe’s 10 provincial hospitals. The deployment will be guided by the Ministry of Health and Child Care, which will prioritise areas with the greatest need.
In addition to the ambulances, the donation includes 200,000 litres of diesel. Each province is expected to receive enough fuel to keep the ambulances operational throughout the year, helping to avoid service disruptions.
“The initiative is a way of giving back to the nation and supporting ordinary citizens. Other members of the business community must play an active role in national development, as collective effort is essential for Zimbabwe to achieve its Vision 2030 targets,” Chivayo added.
