Sonja Pushes for Equal Share of Wealth in Chivayo Divorce Showdown

Sonja Madzikanda, who is separated from businessman Wicknell Chivayo, has initiated divorce proceedings, stating that their marriage has irretrievably collapsed, with no emotional or practical support left between them.

In her court application, she is seeking what she describes as a just and, in certain instances, equal division of the couple’s accumulated wealth. The listed assets include high-end vehicles such as Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Benz, Lamborghini, and Range Rover models, along with several properties in Harare and South Africa, a private jet, and stakes in various business entities.

She further alleges that additional assets could be concealed within companies or trusts and is requesting that these be considered when assessing the total value of the estate.

Regarding the children, Sonja is applying for custody of their two minors while suggesting that Chivayo be granted regulated access, including weekends, holidays, and consistent communication.

On the financial side, she wants Chivayo to take full responsibility for the children’s upkeep, covering costs such as schooling, healthcare, clothing, food, internet, and extracurricular needs.

She is also seeking spousal maintenance of US$40,000 per month until she remarries, a lump sum payment of US$25 million, and around US$1 million annually for holidays and lifestyle-related expenses.

In addition, she is requesting ownership of certain properties and that Chivayo be ordered to cover all legal expenses.

The case is currently before the courts for a ruling.
