The Zimbabwe Republic Police proved this Easter that they have little patience for uninvited holiday chaos after rounding up thirty-four rowdy touts in Mutare.

While most citizens were attending church or enjoying Easter quietly, the suspects were harassing commuters at bus termini.

Police intensified patrols nationwide to keep the holiday peaceful, and these thirty-four individuals were among the first to learn that the law does not take public holidays off.

The Friday raids followed growing complaints from travellers tired of being pulled toward buses like ropes in a tug-of-war. Some touts even grabbed luggage and ran in the opposite direction under the guise of helping.

Authorities have made it clear the behaviour is no longer tolerated. Increased patrols aimed to create a safer environment where commuters can board transport without intimidation.

Justice was swift, as the suspects were taken from the streets straight to court. All thirty-four were found guilty and sentenced accordingly, showing the system can act quickly when needed.

The operation sends a strong warning to others who may want to disrupt order at bus ranks, even during holidays.

This Mutare crackdown is part of a broader national effort to maintain peace during busy travel periods. With the touts behind bars, travellers can finally enjoy some personal space.
