Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe – Government has reaffirmed the critical role of the accountancy profession in driving transparency, accountability and sustainable economic growth, as stakeholders gathered for the Zimbabwe Accountants Conference 2026 (ZAC 2026) in Victoria Falls.

The high-level conference brought together senior government officials, regulators, and leaders in the financial sector to deliberate on strengthening corporate governance systems in line with national development priorities.

Matebeleland North Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Richard Moyo, represented by Mr Godfrey Mkwakwami, highlighted Government’s commitment to sound financial management and institutional integrity.

The event was also attended by Victoria Falls Mayor Councillor Prince Moyo, Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Deputy Governor Dr Innocent Matshe, and Valentine Mushayakarara, chairman of the Public Accountants and Auditors Board (PAAB), alongside delegates from across the country and international accountancy bodies.

Held under the theme “Reimagining the Accountancy Profession for Sustainable Growth, Trust, and Future Relevance,” the conference marked the 10th edition of the gathering and celebrated 30 years of PAAB’s contribution to regulating the profession in Zimbabwe.

Speaking at the conference, NetOne, the Platinum Partner, underscored the importance of strong governance systems in achieving sustainable development.

“The accountancy profession is central to corporate governance. Transparency, accountability and integrity are essential in building institutions that are resilient and trusted,” a NetOne representative said.

The conference also witnessed the launch of Zimbabwe’s Sustainability Reporting Implementation Roadmap, which is expected to guide organisations in adopting global Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards.

Stakeholders noted that as Zimbabwe moves towards Vision 2030, the need for credible financial reporting, effective regulation and ethical leadership remains critical.

The gathering concluded with renewed commitment to strengthening governance frameworks, enhancing accountability and positioning the accountancy profession as a key pillar in the country’s economic transformation agenda.
