A cross-border truck driver identified as Felix, popularly known as Boss Fidza, reportedly returned home after months on the road to a devastating discovery: his wife of 14 years had left their home with their youngest child and started a new marriage.
Felix had reportedly spent months travelling through countries including the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa and Tanzania.
When he finally returned home, his 12-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter were reportedly still at the family house. They allegedly broke the news to their father that their mother had left and remarried.
Shocked by what he had learnt, Felix travelled to Buhera, where his wife’s family is based, in search of answers.
According to the account, her mother, uncle and siblings confirmed that she had started a new relationship and marriage with a man known as Mukanya.
The family reportedly told Felix that although he and his wife had lived together for 14 years, he had never formally paid roora.
They also reportedly explained that his frequent absence due to cross-border trucking had left his wife struggling with loneliness.
Felix was dealt another blow when he allegedly discovered that his wife had taken their savings when she left.
The money reportedly amounted to US$5,600 and R13,000.
The trucker was left devastated, having returned home expecting to reunite with his family only to find that his marriage had ended and a substantial portion of their savings was gone.
