Five people have been arrested in two separate drug-related incidents in Beitbridge and Gonarezhou Game Park, with police recovering 95 kilogrammes of dagga in one of the operations.
In Beitbridge, four suspects were apprehended on November 1, 2026, during a police operation targeting cross-border criminal activities.
The suspects, identified as Mutema Kanengoni (38), Pretty Sibanda (40), Shamiso Mapingire (38) and Blessing Murefu (34), were arrested for allegedly possessing dagga illegally.
A day later, on November 2, police officers from the ZRP Support Unit intercepted a Toyota Hiace kombi at the Boom Gate in Gonarezhou Game Park, leading to the arrest of Carlos Changule (40).
Police reportedly discovered 95 kilogrammes of prepared dagga hidden inside sacks of charcoal in the vehicle, allegedly as part of an attempt to transport the drugs undetected.
All five suspects are being held in police custody and are expected to appear in court.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police said Operation No to Cross Border Crimes is aimed at curbing drug trafficking, smuggling and other illegal activities across the country’s borders.
Police have reiterated their commitment to taking firm action against individuals involved in drug-related offences.
