Zimbabwean musician Mukudzei Chitsama, widely known as Holy Ten, will return to court on August 27 as police continue investigating allegations that he raped a 14-year-old girl.
Chitsama appeared briefly in court on Friday before the matter was postponed to allow the State to complete its investigations. He remains out of custody on US$500 bail.
According to the prosecution, the complainant allegedly met the musician in Avondale before the two travelled to Hatfield, where the alleged offence is said to have taken place. The State told the court that four other suspects connected to the case have not yet been arrested.
As part of his bail conditions, Chitsama is required to report to the police once a week, remain at his stated residential address and avoid contact with State witnesses.
The allegations remain before the courts and have not been proven. Chitsama is presumed innocent unless and until he is convicted by a competent court.
The identity of the complainant has been withheld in keeping with the protection ordinarily afforded to alleged victims of sexual offences who are minors.
