Zimpapers has commenced a compulsory retrenchment exercise expected to affect 154 employees across its various operations.
The Group Works Council informed employees that the process would begin today, with workers affected by the exercise expected to receive formal letters outlining their individual packages and other details.
In a notice to employees, the council said the retrenchment would cover 154 workers across the Zimpapers Group.
It said further details, including the specific terms applicable to each employee, would be contained in the individual notice letters.

The council also indicated that the legal minimum package is one month’s salary for every completed year of service, although the amount remains subject to negotiation.
The exercise affects the media group behind major Zimbabwean publications and broadcasting platforms, including The Herald, Sunday Mail, Chronicle, Sunday News, H-Metro and Star FM.
Details of the departments and positions affected are expected to become clearer as the notices are issued to individual employees.
The development comes as Zimpapers undertakes a major restructuring exercise that will leave 154 employees facing an uncertain employment future.
