Read E-PaperThe appointment was announced on Thursday, 15 October 2026, by the party’s Secretary for Information and Publicity, Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa, as part of changes affecting the Central Committee, Council of Elders and Politburo.
Wadyajena, the former Gokwe-Nembudziya legislator, was among senior Midlands party members suspended in 2023 over allegations that they had undermined ZANU-PF candidates during the general election campaign.
He had lost the party’s primary elections to Flora Buka and was accused of sabotaging her campaign rallies, allegations that formed part of wider disciplinary action against party members in the province.
However, in December 2023, ZANU PF Midlands nullified disciplinary hearings, suspensions and prohibition orders against several members following intervention by the party’s national leadership.
The latest appointment places Wadyajena in the Central Committee, one of the party’s key structures responsible for deliberating on party policy and organisational matters.
In the same announcement, Senator Dr Kudakwashe Tagwirei was appointed Secretary for Economic Affairs and Investment Promotion, while former Secretary for Science and Technology Obert Moses Mpofu was appointed to the Council of Elders.
The appointments were made by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in his capacity as ZANU PF First Secretary, through Secretary General Advocate Jacob Mudenda, and take effect immediately.
