An internal source at NetOne has moved to clear the air over rumors surrounding Chief Executive Officer Engineer Raphael Mushanawani’s current absence, stressing that the executive is simply on annual leave and will return to work as scheduled.
Business Strategy Performance Executive John Mayambo, speaking to an independent journalist who reached out for comment, dismissed online chatter suggesting the CEO had been placed on forced leave or would not be coming back.
“This is just speculation,” Mayambo told the journalist. “The CEO is on approved annual leave from July 13 to August 13.
He is enjoying his time off, and he will resume duty on August 13. There is nothing forced about this, it’s routine annual leave processed through normal channels.”

The clarification came after the journalist sought comment from Mayambo to address growing social media claims that Mushanawani had been compelled to take leave and might not return, allegations the source described as unfounded and potentially damaging to the executive’s reputation.
Mayambo confirmed that Chief Technology Officer Christopher Muchechemere has been appointed Acting Group CEO during Mushanawani’s absence, a standard administrative arrangement.
