According to African football journalist Micky Jnr, Petro’s management is expected to hold discussions with Sousa upon the team’s return to Luanda, with the meeting reportedly aimed at reaching an agreement over his departure.
The reported development comes after Petro suffered a setback at the National Sports Stadium, where goals from Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona handed Scottland a crucial two-goal advantage ahead of the return leg.
The result has placed the Zimbabwean champions in a favourable position as they seek to progress to the CAF Champions League group stage, although they still face the challenge of negotiating the second leg away from home.
Petro, who will be seeking to overturn the deficit on home soil, could face further uncertainty if the reported discussions result in a change of leadership on the technical bench.
However, the club has not officially confirmed Sousa’s departure, and the reported coaching changes remain subject to developments following the team’s return to Angola.
Scottland will now look to protect their advantage in the return leg as they pursue a historic place in the group stage of Africa’s premier club competition.
