President and ZANU PF First Secretary, Cde Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa, has called on party structures and Government institutions to intensify citizen participation in economic development through increased investment and empowerment initiatives aimed at achieving shared prosperity.
Addressing the 394th Ordinary Session of the ZANU PF Politburo in Harare on Wednesday, President Mnangagwa said the party and its leadership should ensure that communities actively participate in programmes designed to improve livelihoods and drive national development.
The President said economic empowerment and broad-based participation remained critical to the attainment of Vision 2030 and the creation of sustainable prosperity for all Zimbabweans.
He highlighted the establishment of the Victoria Falls International Financial Centre as one of the key initiatives under Government’s strategy to position Zimbabwe as a competitive investment destination and strengthen economic growth.
President Mnangagwa said the financial centre was expected to attract both domestic and foreign investment while enhancing the country’s standing as a regional financial hub.
Turning to the issue of Zimbabweans returning from the diaspora, the President appealed to families and communities to embrace the values of compassion, love and unity to ensure the successful reintegration of returnees.
He said Government had put in place comprehensive programmes and mechanisms to facilitate the safe, dignified and seamless reintegration of returning citizens.
President Mnangagwa emphasized the importance of social cohesion and collective responsibility in supporting Zimbabweans returning home, noting that communities have a critical role to play in helping them settle and contribute to national development.
As the country enters the second half of the year, the President urged party leaders and Government officials to strengthen coordination, accelerate the implementation of programmes and remain responsive to the aspirations and needs of the people.
He commended the collective efforts of party members, Government institutions and citizens in advancing the country’s development agenda and called for renewed commitment to delivering tangible results.
The 394th Ordinary Session of the ZANU PF Politburo reviewed party and national programmes as the ruling party seeks to consolidate development gains and accelerate economic transformation.
