In a speech marking the start of October, the country’s top prosecutor said that the fight against the disease requires the same vigilance and dedication as the pursuit of justice.

She noted that the theme for this year, “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters,” serves as a critical reminder of the human cost behind the statistics.

“Hello October—Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“The Prosecutor General joins the nation and the global community in commemorating Breast Cancer Awareness Month under the theme ‘Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters.”

Prosecutor General Matanda-Moyo stressed that awareness and education are essential tools in the national healthcare strategy, adding that no one should face the journey alone.

“Every story is unique; every journey matters. “We must recognize the strength of those battling this disease and the importance of early detection in saving lives.”

Prosecutor General Matanda-Moyo further implored that early detection remains the most powerful weapon in the fight against breast cancer.

“Early detection is the most powerful weapon we have in this fight. It is a collective responsibility that demands our unwavering attention.”

She concluded by reaffirming the National Prosecuting Authority’s commitment to supporting national health initiatives and called on all Zimbabweans to participate actively in awareness campaigns throughout October.

“We stand with the nation and the global community in commemorating this month,” she said. “Together, we can make a difference in every journey.”

The NPA’s commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month underscores the institution’s broader commitment to public health advocacy and community engagement beyond its core mandate of criminal prosecution.
