PSMAS finance executive director Marshall Mashavave and two directors of Minana Technologies Solutions have appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing allegations involving US$17 million.

The case reportedly relates to an ICT project involving PSMAS and allegations surrounding the assessment of the organisation’s ICT systems.
The State alleges that the process resulted in financial prejudice of about US$17 million.
The three accused appeared in court to answer to the allegations and have not been convicted. The matter will proceed through the courts, where the State is required to prove its case.
The case comes amid previous concerns over financial management at PSMAS. In 2023, the Government said a forensic audit had identified about US$60 million allegedly lost through theft and mismanagement at PSMAS and related entities between 2018 and July 2022.
PSMAS has also faced other fraud-related court cases involving individuals and companies linked to the organisation.
The latest case has renewed scrutiny of financial controls, procurement procedures and the management of funds at the medical aid society.
Further details of the alleged transactions and the evidence against Mashavave, Sambas and Mafemba are expected to emerge as the case progresses.
