The Botswana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with a robbery in Maun on 5 June 2026, in which three businessmen reportedly lost more than P375,000 in cash and property worth over P80,000.
The suspects have been identified as two Zimbabwean nationals, Donald Sibanda, 42, and Lyghton Nembaware, 39, alongside Botswana national Bonnie Secha, 42.
According to police, the three businessmen were targeted during the robbery, with the suspects allegedly making off with a substantial amount of cash and valuables.
Police investigations reportedly linked Sibanda and Nembaware to several other criminal cases in different parts of Botswana.
The two Zimbabwean nationals were already on the Botswana Police Service wanted list in connection with alleged robberies, break-ins and the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The cases reportedly involve incidents in Gaborone, Mogoditshane and Francistown.
Police also revealed that Nembaware had been declared a Prohibited Immigrant in Botswana in 2007.
The arrest of the three suspects follows investigations into the Maun robbery, with police continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether the suspects are connected to other reported crimes.
The suspects are expected to appear before the courts, where they will face the relevant charges.
They remain innocent until proven guilty.
