Tungwarara addressed the reports in a video shared on his Facebook page on Tuesday, where he confirmed that he had travelled to South Africa but rejected claims that he was critically ill.

“Yes, I was airlifted to South Africa. Handisi panhovo (I am not on my death bed). I am attending some meetings, ndiri kutsvaka mari,” he said.

In the video, Tungwarara appeared outdoors at a property, where he was seen feeding fish in a pond.

His remarks came after a report by ZimLive alleged that he had been flown to South Africa in a private jet around midnight following a medical emergency.

The report said he arrived in South Africa at about 1:21am on Monday and was subsequently diagnosed with angina, a condition associated with reduced blood flow to the heart.

According to the report, sources close to Tungwarara said he was responding well to treatment.

Tungwarara, who serves as Special Presidential Investment Adviser to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, said his trip to South Africa was business-related and aimed at securing investment for Zimbabwe.
