Two Women Arrested Over Alleged Fake Jobs Scam

Police have arrested two women accused of running an alleged employment scam that reportedly duped more than 100 job seekers through social media platforms.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Clara Chiwashira (20) and Chipo Masuku (22) allegedly enticed unemployed people to join a WhatsApp group named “Job Opportunities”, where they advertised vacancies for positions such as till operators, housekeepers and merchandisers.

Investigators allege that the pair demanded approximately US$100 from each applicant as part of the recruitment process, promising them employment. However, the jobs allegedly never materialised after the payments were made.

Police are continuing with investigations and have appealed to members of the public for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects’ alleged accomplices, identified as Boss Kevy and Charles Chizimbe, who remain at large.
