President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships, saying the country remains open to cooperation that supports national development and economic growth.
The President received the newly appointed United Nations Resident Coordinator to Zimbabwe, Ms. Rosemary Kalapurakal, at State House in Harare, where discussions focused on sustainable development and social progress.
In a statement following the meeting, President Mnangagwa said: “Our discussion focused on advancing our shared goals for sustainable economic development, social progress, and achieving the SDGs in alignment with our national vision.”
The President said Zimbabwe values its partnership with the United Nations as the country continues to pursue its development agenda and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

On the same occasion, President Mnangagwa accepted the credentials of Mr. Sergei Berdnikov, Ambassador-Designate of the Russian Federation to Zimbabwe.
The President described Russia as an important ally, stating: “Russia remains a reliable and strategic ally.”
He added that both countries are seeking to strengthen cooperation in several key sectors.
“We look forward to deepening our cooperation across key sectors including mining, agriculture, and technology transfer,” President Mnangagwa said.
The President also reiterated Zimbabwe’s foreign policy position, emphasizing the country’s openness to international cooperation.
“Zimbabwe continues to open its doors to meaningful partnerships under our policy of being a friend to all and an enemy to none,” he said.
Speaking after presenting his credentials, Ambassador Berdnikov said his priority would be to maintain strong political relations between Zimbabwe and Russia while expanding economic cooperation.
He identified mining, energy, electrification, agriculture and agricultural mechanisation as sectors with significant potential for collaboration.
The ambassador also highlighted science, technology and other strategic areas as important fields for future cooperation between the two countries.
The diplomatic engagements underscore Zimbabwe’s continued efforts to attract investment, strengthen bilateral relations and advance its national development priorities through international partnerships.
