President Mnangagwa Urges Zanu PF Members to Prioritize Citizens’ Welfare
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called on members of the Zanu PF party to recommit themselves to diligently working for the betterment of ordinary Zimbabweans.
Speaking as the party’s First Secretary during the closing of the 22nd National People’s Conference held in Mutare, Manicaland, over the weekend, Mnangagwa emphasized the importance of staying connected to the people and addressing their needs.
“We must renew our commitment to serving Zimbabwe and its people with sincerity. Let’s walk with them in both triumph and hardship. The wellbeing of our citizens and the advancement of the nation must remain at the forefront of our mission,” he said.
The President also reaffirmed the strength and vitality of the ruling party, saying, “Zanu PF is strong and vibrant. It stands as the tried and tested guardian of our revolution, dedicated to improving the lives of our people. We are moving forward—there’s no turning back.”
His sentiments echoed those of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, who has consistently advocated for fair distribution of national resources to benefit the wider population rather than a select few.
President Mnangagwa urged all levels of the party to develop clear plans and measurable goals to drive economic development ahead of the next conference and beyond.
As the country moves into the next phase of its National Development Strategy (NDS2), he stressed the need for greater cooperation among government ministries, departments, and agencies, emphasizing a unified approach involving all sectors of society.
“The party will maintain its leadership role across all areas of the economy,” he noted, while praising the delegates for their disciplined and thoughtful contributions during the conference.
He described Zanu PF as a mature, democratic, and well-organized political force that continues to uphold the vision and legacy of its founding leaders.
“Zanu PF has shown itself to be a revolutionary mass movement that is evolving and positioning itself to ensure Zimbabweans remain in control of their own future,” said Mnangagwa.
The President also commended the conference for its meaningful and forward-thinking dialogue, which reflected the aspirations of grassroots communities and provided a clear direction for future action.
He highlighted the importance of adhering to the party’s constitution, urging every member to respect the established hierarchy and decisions made by central organs such as the Central Committee, National People’s Conference, and ultimately the National People’s Congress.
“Everyone in the party must follow the constitutional order—from the grassroots up to the highest levels,” he asserted.
In a pointed message, Mnangagwa warned against attempts to interfere with the party’s direction, whether from within or outside Zanu PF.
“We chart our own course. Let us focus on the responsibilities we have been entrusted with by the party,” he said, concluding with a call for unity and loyalty to the party’s core values.
