Zimbabwe’s ruling Zanu PF party has praised the deepened relationship between Zimbabwe and China, noting the tangible benefits the upgraded ties are bringing to the country.

Speaking at a press conference in Harare, Party Spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa emphasized that Zimbabwe’s long-standing friendship with China continues to grow, yielding significant advantages for the nation and its economy.

“One of the key outcomes of this strengthened partnership is the increased involvement of Chinese private companies investing and manufacturing goods locally,” Mutsvangwa explained.

He went on to say that Zimbabwe is leveraging its enhanced relationship with China, now described as an “all-weather community with a shared future.” This new phase in bilateral ties, he added, is a driving force behind the country’s economic recovery.

Mutsvangwa also expressed gratitude to China for its consistent support in advocating for the removal of Western sanctions on Zimbabwe, noting that the backing from China and other nations has been crucial in helping Zimbabwe overcome its challenges.

“If it weren’t for nations like China standing with us, it would have been much harder to navigate the difficulties we faced. Their support has been invaluable,” he remarked, describing the bilateral relationship as one of great importance.

The diplomatic relationship between China and Zimbabwe dates back to 1980, and in September, the two countries elevated their ties to a new level, officially declaring an “all-weather community with a shared future.”
