HARARE – President Emmerson Mnangagwa has re-assigned Professor Mthuli Ncube as Minister of Finance and appointed Senator Kudakwashe Tagwirei as Minister of Economic Development and Investment Promotion.

According to the statement, Ncube has been re-assigned as Minister of Finance with immediate effect.
Tagwirei has also been appointed Minister of Economic Development and Investment Promotion, also with immediate effect.
The appointments were made in terms of Section 104(1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
The changes separate the Finance portfolio from the Economic Development and Investment Promotion portfolio.
Ncube has been responsible for the country’s finance and economic development portfolio, while Tagwirei now takes charge of economic development and investment promotion.
The new portfolio will focus on attracting investment, supporting economic growth and promoting development initiatives.
The changes take immediate effect.
